Blue Seal Feeds works closely with its primary seed supplier; Scheeren Seed Company, to bring you the best seed possible.
The Scheeren Seed Company, based in New York, was established in 1971 by Walter F. Scheeren. The company began raising foundation seed for the New York State Seed Improvement Co-op. The Co-op focused on the philosophy of raising silage-only corn. Over the next 10 years, Scheeren Seed Company developed its own 65 to 105-day varieties.
In the 1990’s, Scheeren Seed Company worked with experts like Dr. Francis Glenn, PhD. of Glenn Seed, Ltd., Peter Holden of Holden Seed and Mike Brayton of MBS, Inc., to develop new technology varieties such as Leafy Gene corn. The Leafy Gene is now available in 82-, 92- and 104- and 105-day varieties.
